Care basics
The checkerboard cichlid has a pattern of dark squares along its side, and males grow a lyre shaped tail. It is a soft water fish for keepers with stable, clean water.
Keep it in a calm, warm, planted tank with leaf litter and gentle flow, with small peaceful tank mates.
